Basketball

The Start Smart Basketball program is a 6-week instructional program that helps parents work one-on-one with their chilfren while teaching them the basics of basketball such as dribbling, ball handling, shooting, passing, catching, and running/agility that are needed to participate in organized basketball. The program will teach parents the proper way to develop those skills with their children, while building their confidence, which will enable them to enjoy participation in basketball programs. A variety of innovative products will be utilized to enhance child development.

The program is administered by the Youth Development Arm of the non-profit National Alliance for youth Sports.

Instructional Basketball Clinics

Learn the fundamentals of basketball. Girls and boys will have a chance to develop their basic motor skills such as dribbling/ ball handling, shooting, passing/catching, and running/agility that are needed to participate in organized basketball.

Participants will learn basic skills through drill orientations and game simulations. Focus on the fundamentals (shooting, passing, dribbling, and defense) of the sport. This class if for all ages interested in learning the basics of the game of basketball.

Start Smart Football is an 6-week instructional program that helps parents work one-on-one with their children while teaching them the basics of football. The program helps prepare children for organized football by using safe and fun equipment to teach them the basic motor skills needed to compete.

Start Smart Football is open to children, 3 to 7 years old, who can attend each session with their parent or another significant adult.

Children's yoga is a natural and healthy way to exercise, relax, focus and gain self-control.  With animated poses, yoga games, and stories kids explore the mind and body while having fun!  Many of the games and stories teach children about nature and respect for others.

Kindermotion is a developmentally designed Education through motor skills, physical development, fitness, nutrition and imagery program that prepares students minds and bodies for athletic and academic pursuits. This program focuses on the mind/body connection while building self-esteem and self-confidence in young children.

U.S. Jr. Olympic Skills Competition

U.S. Jr. Olympic Skills Competition provides youngsters across the country an opportunity to participate in an exciting mulit-sport skills competition.  This national initiative gives boys and girls the chance to showcase their athletic talents in four sports: basketball, soccer, tennis, trackand field.  Boys and girls compete separately and can advance through tree levels of competition including the National Finals.  For more information visit www.jrolympicskills.com.

Officer Adam Rosenthal will instruct students in three stages: the first will cover techniques and stances of Karate, the second stage will cover Kickboxing and the third stage will cover Judo and ground fighting.

Officer Rosenthal has over 15 years experience in Kickboxing, Karate, Judo and Ju-Jitsu. He has competed in international and state level tournaments. He has 9 years experience in law-enforcement and 6 years on SWAT Team.

The program will teach parents the proper way to develop those skills with their children, while building their confidence, which will enable them to enjoy participation in soccer programs. A variety of innovative products will be utilized to enhance child development.

This program will introduce and teach girls and boys the sport of track and field. The team is registered with the United States of America Track and Field (USATF) organization. Every athlete on the team will receive an individual USATF membership.

Come join the Delray Beach Walkers Club! Walking is for seniors, moms, kids and anyone wanting to begin getting active. It is a great opportunity to improve your health, make new friends, and enjoy the beautiful vistas Delray Beach has to offer.

Receive a free t-shirt after walking 50 miles! Additional miles can be earned on your own time by turning in your "honor system" walking log to Ocean Rescue Headquarters (340 South Ocean Blvd.) or Veterans Park Staff (802 NE 1st Street).

Walker must be able to walk 1-2 miles without assistance, wear walking shoes/sneakers, bring a bottle of water, bring a pedometer to count your steps, and wear sun screen.
