PLAT APPROVAL

DESCRIPTION

Whenever land is subdivided, creating new or modified lots, streets, or tracts, a plat is required. The plat is basically a map of the lot and street layout showing property dimensions and easement locations. Plats, once recorded, are the legal documents by which property is described. Due to their technical nature, subdivision plats are not public hearing items.

PROCESS
  • Preliminary plats are approved by the Planning and Zoning Board.

  • Final plats go before the Planning and Zoning Board which provides a recommendation to the City Commission.

  • City Commission approves the final plat at a regular meeting.
