Hispanic-American Roving Patrol
The Hispanic Roving Patrol was started because residents from the Hispanic-American community wanted to contribute toward helping the Police Department stop crime in their neighborhoods. They not only provide patrols in the Hispanic neighborhoods, but they patrol in other parts of the city where needed. The Hispanic Volunteers are trained in the use of cellular phones, observation, and reporting techniques. These Volunteers also help with security at city functions, special events and play a significant role in performing translations for the police department.
