Homefront Security Patrol

Since the Twin Towers tragedy in New York on September 11, 2001 the entire country has been on a heightened alert status. In response to this, the Delray Beach Police Department has developed the Volunteer Homefront Security Patrol to supplement enforcement efforts in our own community. The main function of the Homefront Security Patrol Volunteers is to patrol designated areas in the city considered to be more sensitive than others merely by their governmental nature. This program offers a police department presence on a regular basis by Volunteers trained to inform the police department of any situation that seems out of the ordinary at any one of these areas, as public safety would be the first concern of the patrol. These Volunteers are trained to call the appropriate authorities, if need be, and to effectively monitor and safely secure an area in question until those authorities arrived on the scene to take control. As always, they are on the lookout for any crime occurring in these areas and take appropriate action by calling the police.
