The Mobile Traffic Monitoring Unit was formed in an effort to assist our Traffic Unit by collecting traffic data and providing investigators with needed information to identify areas in the community that have a high volume of speeding violations and the potential for serious traffic accidents.  The Volunteers operate sophisticated pieces of equipment that monitor vehicle speeds in a given area.  Speeders are identified by the Volunteers through computer checks and are sent notices explaining their violation and the potential risks in driving excessive speeds.
