Digital Cities Survey

2005 - 2006, 1st Place; 2007, 3rd Place; 2008, 8th Place; 2009, 5th Place

Mayors, city managers, chief information officers from hundreds of cities participate in an annual survey assessing the use of information technology to deliver quality services to their communities. The Digital Cities Survey is the nation's most demanding measure of a municipality's ability to apply technology to the benefit of citizens. Survey questions focus on implementation and adoption of online service delivery, planning and governance, and the infrastructure and architecture that make the transformation to digital government possible.

In eaceh year that the City of Delray Beach has taken part in the survey, it has ranked in the top ten for its category, populations of 30,000 to 75,000.  Contributing to Delray Beach's consistently high ranking are the superior fiber optic network that links city facilities; advanced planning and adherence to standards in network infrastructure; the Enterprise Technology Plan, which has been featured on the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) site; and the large volume of information and variety of services available via the city's website, MyDelrayBeach.com.

MyDelrayBeach.com contains information regarding City activities, Commission and advisory board meetings and minutes, official documents and records dating back to the 1940's, upcoming agendas, monthly newsletters, news releases, special events, a number of online services, emergency information and weather forecasts, beach conditions reports, and much more.

The Center for Digital Government is a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies and practices in state and local government.
