FY 2011 Millage Rate & Budget Adoption

The City is in the process of preparing a tentative Budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2011.  This Budget will be presented to the City Commission for review and discussion at upcoming City Commission Regular Meetings and Workshops. 

Budget Meetings and Workshops will be listed on this web page once scheduling has been finalized. In addition, the proposed FY 2011 Budget will be posted online upon availability.

City Commission Workshop / FY 2011 Budget First Public Hearing
Date:  Monday, September 13, 2010
Time:  Workshop begins at 6:00 pm, Public Hearing begins at 7:00 pm
Location: Workshop will be held in the City Hall First Floor Conference Room, 100 NW 1st Avenue.  The Public Hearing will be held in the Commission Chambers.
Agenda Items:  Tentative budget and proposed millage rate to include the adoption of resolutions tentatively levying a tax and appropriating sums of money.

City Commission Regular Meeting / FY 2011 Budget Second and Final Public Hearing
Date:  Tuesday, September 21, 2010
Time:  Regular Meeting 6:00 pm, Public Hearing begins at 7:00 pm
Location:  City Hall Commission Chambers, 100 NW 1st Avenue
Agenda Items: Adoption of Final Budget to include:

  • Millage Levy - A resolution levying a tax on all properties within the City of Delray Beach for operation and maintenance, and payment of principal  and interest on bonded indebtedness for FY 2011.
  • Millage Levy/DDA - A resolution levying a tax on all properties within the Downtown Development Authority Taxing District of the City of Delray Beach for FY 2011.
  • Budget Adoption for FY 2011 - A resolution making appropriations of sums of money for all necessary expenditures of the City of Delray Beach for the period October 1, 2010, through September 30, 2011.

Truth in Millage (TRIM) Notice: The Property Appraiser sends out the Notice of Proposed Property Tax (also known as the Truth in Millage or TRIM notice) in August of every year.

The TRIM notice states current property taxes and proposed property taxes based on the budgets of all the taxing authorities.

The TRIM notice specifies:

  • Your estimated taxes based on the tax rates from the various taxing agencies that can levy tax on your property:
    • Palm Beach County School Board
    • Palm Beach County Operating & Debt Service
    • City of Delray Beach Operating
    • City of Delray Beach Debt Service
    • Palm Beach County Health Care District
    • Children's Service Council
    • South Florida Water Management District - Operating
    • South Florida Water Management District - Everglades Construction Project
    • Florida Inland Navigational District
  • Your exemptions
  • Notice of public hearings
  • Information about challenging the value of your property

The property tax notice is mailed by the Tax Collector on or about November 1st, 2010. These taxes are collectable from November 1st, 2010 until March 31st, 2011.
