DBFR Logo250x250Delray Beach Fire-Rescue proudly serves the City of Delray Beach, as well as providing services to the Town of Highland Beach and the Town of Gulfstream. DBFR has 6 stations throughout the Delray Beach, each housing at least one fire suppression apparatus and one medic transport unit. Each day there are a minimum of 35 personnel manning these 6 stations. When not responding to emergency calls, crews are busy completing a wide variety of training, performing vehicle and equipment “check-outs”, carrying out various station duties, and completing zone familiarization while conduction quick access surveys.

DBFR personnel are all assigned to one of 3 shifts (“A”, “B”, and “C” shift). These shifts are 24 hours long, ensuring emergency response capabilities 24-7 for 365 days a year. Each station has a Station Captain who is in charge of their 5 person crew. These Station Captains each report to their shift Battalion Chief. There are 3 Battalion Chiefs, one for each shift, that also work 24 hour shifts. The Battalion Chiefs report to the Assistant Chief of Operations. Each shift also has an EMS Supervisor who is in charge of all EMS calls within the city. The EMS Supervisors report directly to the EMS Division Chief who also reports to the Assistant Chief of Operations. The Assistant Chief of Operations reports directly to the Fire Chief of the Department.

DBFR responds annually to approximately 16,000 calls. These call include structure fires, medical emergencies, motor vehicle collisions, hazardous materials, victims trapped in confined spaces and elevators, and high angle rescues. This wide variety of calls is the reason why the crews at DBFR are constantly training and trying to keep up with the latest innovations in the fire service. For this reason our department completes approximately 42,000 hours of training annually by our staff.

In addition to the operational arena, DBFR has a top notch administrative staff that ensures the Department Mission is able to be achieved. The Assistant Chief of Administration overseas both fleet maintenance, as well as station repairs. The Assistant Chief of Administration reports directly to the Fire Chief.
